Description:
The Gestational Diabetes Glucose Tolerance, 2 hour test (GGT test) may be used to screen for gestational diabetes by determining how effectively the body is using glucose. The GGT test is recommended by the American Diabetes Association as standard screening for pregnant women at 24 to 28 weeks of gestation. This gestational diabetes test is sometimes ordered by physicians after a positive Glucose Challenge Test result to diagnose or rule out gestational diabetes.
Turnaround time for the GGT test is typically 1 business day.
Requirements: The GGT test requires fasting 10-12 hours prior to blood collection. The Gestational Glucose Tolerance Test is collected as 3 specimens, fasting, 1 hour after drinking a glucose solution at the lab and 2 hours after drinking the glucose solution. Please ensure to schedule at least 2 hours of time for your collection.
