Description: The Glucose 6-Phosphate Dehyrdogenase (G6PD Test) test may be used to determine G6PD deficiency.  G6PD is an enzyme which helps red blood cells function normally.  With G6PD deficiency, red blood cells are damaged or destroyed causing hemolytic anemia.  G6PD deficiency is most common in people of African or Mediterranean descent. Turnaround time for the G6PD test is typically 1-3 business days.
