Hepatitis A Total (IgM - IgG) Test

Description: The Hepatitis A Total test measures both the IgM and IgG forms of the antibody, but differentiation is not possible. A positive result may imply an infection to Hepatitis A OR immunity due to vaccination or clinical recovery.  Turnaround time is typically 1 business day.

Incubation Period: The incubation period for Hepatitis IgM antibodies usually appears 3 to 4 weeks after an initial exposure and return to normal after about 8 weeks.  The IgG antibodies may begin to develop 2 weeks after the IgM antibodies increase to a high level.  IgG antibodies may persist indefinitely.
