Description: HIV testing for HIV-2 antibodies by EIA (enzyme immunoassay). HIV-2 is a different strain of HIV that was found in higher concentrations in West Africa and is now spreading to different parts of the world. This HIV testing package is available because HIV-2 infections are not always detected by HIV-1 testing. Turnaround time for the HIV-2 Abs test is typically 1-3 business days.

Incubation Period: Antibodies for HIV can appear as early as a few weeks after being infected with the HIV-2 virus.  HIV-2 antibodies may take more than 6 months to be detectible.

Requirements: This HIV testing does not have any special requirements.
