The Ritalin (Methylphenidate) Blood Test provides quantitative results for Ritalin levels in the blood. Ritalin or Methylphenidate is a nervous system stimulant typically used in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD) in children and ADD in adults.
This test is typically ordered to monitor therapeutic use of Ritalin and aid in determining someone's proper dosage. The normal range for therapeutic use of Ritalin is 5-20 ng/ml with over 40 ng/ml being potentially toxic. Ritalin is usually detectable in the blood for less than 24 hours. As a result, a urine Ritalin test is typically more effective as a screening for Ritalin abuse as it has a longer detection period.
Turnaround time for this test is typically 2-4 business days.
At this time, Request A Test does not offer DOT (Department of Transportation) certified testing.
Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
Specimen collection for the Ritalin (Methylphenidate) Drug Blood Test should be done 1-2 hours after a dose is taken.
