Kidney Stone 24-hour Urine Analysis Test
This test measures various substances in a 24-hour urine sample that can help to determine the risk for developing recurrent kidney stones. Kidney stones are formed from minerals and salts in the kidneys. As much as 20% of men and 10% of women develop at least one kidney stone in their lifetime. At least 50% of people who have had a kidney stone will suffer from recurring stones. A urine test for kidney stones measures substances that contribute to kidney stone formation. High concentrations of one or more of these substances in the urine can indicate that a person is likely to develop kidney stones.
