Recent Exposure Comprehensive
Description:
Recent Exposure Comprehensive
The Recent Exposure Comprehensive STD & HIV testing package looks for a number of commonly tested STDs. This package includes tests with the earliest detection period for those who may have had a recent exposure. Because some tests may not be as accurate when they are taken early, it is often recommended to test again when more time has passed, especially for someone with a higher level of risk or if symptoms develop.
This package includes:
- HIV 1&2 RNA Qualitative
- Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
- Hepatitis C Antibody
- Herpes 1&2 IgM antibody
- Syphilis RPR
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhea
For more testing options, please see our STD Testing Category. Turnaround time is typically 3-5 business days.
Please refer to individual tests for detailed test descriptions.
Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
Detection Period:
The tests in this package look for STD's which can become detectable as early as 3-4 weeks from exposure. Some people may be detectable earlier.
(Please refer to individual test descriptions for specific incubation periods.)
Requirements:
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are urine tests.
For the highest level of accuracy:
- Refrain from urinating for at least one hour prior to collection.
- Avoid cleansing the genital area at least one hour prior to collection.
- The sample should be a "first catch" of urine, meaning customers should begin urinating directly into the collection container.
- Fill the specimen cup approximately 20-30 ml. Overfilling the container will dilute the specimen and may reduce the accuracy of the test.
It is recommended that someone taking Biotin (also known as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H, or coenzyme R) stop consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample.
