Alcohol EtG Urine Test
Specimen Type: Urine
|
Description:
Alcohol EtG/EtS Urine Test (Labcorp)
What is Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG)?
The EtG test looks for Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG), a metabolite of ethyl alcohol, in the urine. Testing for EtG is typically used to determine if a person has recently imbibed alcoholic beverages.
How long is EtG detectable in urine?
Unlike alcohol which is normally only detectable in urine for 24 hours or less, ETG can typically be detected for up to 72 hours after alcohol consumption. It is important to note that detection times may vary from person to person.
This test provides an initial screen with confirmatory testing at no additional charge in the event that something is detected. Positive confirmatory results will include both Ethyl Gluruonide (EtG) and Ethyl Sulfate (EtS). A numerical value will be provided for the metabolite(s) detected in the sample.
The recommended use of this test is for routine monitoring of alcohol use. It is typically ordered when someone is in a rehabilitation or treatment program. It is not considered appropriate for workplace testing or single screenings.
A standard Alcohol Urine Test which is more appropriate for workplace or personal testing is available as well.
How long does an EtG test take?
Turnaround time for the EtG Test is typically 1-3 business days for negative results. Specimens that require confirmatory testing will have a longer turnaround.
At this time, Request A Test does not offer DOT (Department of Transportation) certified testing.
