Description:
Amphetamine (Adderall) Blood Drug Test (Labcorp)
This drug test looks for Amphetamine use in a blood sample. Amphetamines are a class of drugs that act as nervous system stimulants, essentially speeding up communication between the brain and the body. Methamphetamine is a potent and highly addictive form of Amphetamine. Although it is used medically in rare cases, it is more often produced illegally and abused for the high it produces.
Amphetamines are often prescribed to treat conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Narcolepsy. Abusing prescription Amphetamines such as Adderall by taking more than the prescribed dosage or using it without a prescription can lead to addiction and a number of health issues. Short term effects of Adderall use can include loss of appetite, irregular weight loss, irritability, difficulty sleeping, restlessness, and irregular heartbeat. Long term abuse can cause headaches, depression, paranoia, inability to focus or concentrate, increased blood pressure, difficulty breathing, hallucinations, and convulsions. It is important to note that while a person abusing Adderall will typically test positive for amphetamines, the test results will not specifically list Adderall or any other brand name medication. Because drug testing cannot distinguish between Adderall and Amphetamines, a positive result will only differentiate between Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
Amphetamines are typically detectable in blood for 1-2 days after use. Detection periods are only an estimate and can be affected by a number of factors. This test is a screen only and will provide qualitative (positive or negative) results. For a more sensitive test that will provide a numerical value on a positive result see out Amphetamine Confirmation Blood Test. For testing that includes amphetamine and other drugs see our 5 Panel Urine Drug Test or 6 Panel Blood Drug Test. For more options see our Drug Testing Category.
Turnaround for this test is typically 3-7 business days.
