Methaqualone (Quaalude) Urine Drug Test (Labcorp)
This test looks for the presence of Methaqualone in a urine sample. Methaqualone, commonly known as Quaaludes, is a sedative-hypnotic which acts as a nervous system depressant. In the past, it was prescribed as a muscle relaxant and sedative primarily in the treatment of insomnia. Abuse of methaqualone peaked in the 1960s and '70s but has declined significantly in the United States since it was classified as illegal. Recreational use of Quaaludes is still popular in other parts of the world.
Taking methaqualone over the prescribed dosage can result in a euphoric high. Methaqualone is highly addictive and frequent use causes the user to develop a tolerance requiring that they take higher dosages to achieve a high. The risk of overdose is high and the amount which can be dangerous will vary from person to person. Quaaludes can cause a dangerous drop in pulse rate and blood pressure which can result in coma or death.
This test includes an initial screening followed by confirmatory testing if anything is detected. In the event of a positive confirmatory test, numerical results will be provided for the level detected.
