Pumpkin Allergy Test
This test measures a person's allergic reaction to Pumpkin. Pumpkins belong to the same family of gourds as squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and others. While allergies to pumpkins are not common, they do affect some people. Pumpkins contain similar proteins to some types of ragweed pollen so those with allergies to ragweed may also be allergic to pumpkin. Pumpkin flesh and seeds are used in a variety of products so people with an allergy should be careful to check ingredients.
Allergy symptoms can develop anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours after ingestion or exposure. Common food allergy symptoms include rash, hives, itching, cough, wheezing, tightening of the throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and lightheadedness. People with a severe allergy may experience anaphylaxis which can be fatal.
