Sjogren Anti SS-B Blood Test (Labcorp)
The Sjogren Anti SS-B test looks for a specific type of auto antibody, SS-B, which is commonly associated with Sjogren's Syndrome. Sjogren's is an autoimmune disease, a disorder in which a person's immune system turns against the body's own cells. Sjogren's typically targets the glands which produce tears and saliva causing symptoms such as dry eyes and mouth. Sjogren's syndrome can also effect the joints, muscles, liver, kidneys, thyroid, lungs and nervous system.
SS-B antibodies may also be found in people with other conditions such as Lupus. SS-B antibodies are found in 50-60% of people with Sjogren's and 10-15% of people with Lupus.
