Chaetomium Globosum Allergy Blood Test

Test Code: 602917
Specimen Type: Blood
Online Chaetomium Globosum Allergy Test

Description:

Chaetomium Globosum Allergy Blood Test (Labcorp)

This test measures a person's allergic reaction to Chaetomium Globosum (C. Globosum.)  C Globosum is a species of mold that primarily lives on plants, straw, soil, and dung.  It is found outdoors in a variety of environments.  Indoors, C Globosum is sometimes found on wood products in damp areas.

C Globosum is a common trigger for allergies.  The most common allergy symptoms include hives, itching, red or watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, congestion, swelling in the throat, and difficulty breathing. The severity of these symptoms will vary from person to person.  In some people, a severe reaction known as anaphylaxis may occur.  This can include a rapid heart rate, lowered blood pressure, lightheadedness, difficulty breathing, and loss of consciousness.  Anyone experiencing symptoms of anaphylaxis should seek immediate medical attention.

Blood allergy testing measures the level of IgE antibodies to specific allergens in a person's blood.  These antibodies trigger the production of histamine which causes the symptoms associated with an allergic reaction.

Someone who is allergic to one species of mold is likely to be allergic to others.  Removing mold in your living space or environment is important for managing your allergies.

Request A Test also offers a Mold Allergy Panel that tests for allergies to several mold species.  For more options, please see our Allergy Testing Category

Turnaround for this test is typically 2-5 business days barring any delays at the lab.
