Depending on the type of exposure, Cobalt poisoning can cause symptoms such as coughing, breathing problems, skin irritation, nerve damage, and heart problems.
Can I take multivitamins before a cobalt blood test?
You should generally avoid taking vitamins before a cobalt blood test. Specifically, you should stop taking mineral supplements, vitamin B12, and vitamin B complex for 72 hours prior to your blood draw
Cobalt blood testing is typically ordered when a person believes they have been exposed, especially if they work in environments where cobalt is present. Periodic testing to monitor blood Cobalt levels is recommended for anyone who is at risk of exposure, even if they are not experiencing symptoms.
