Fentanyl Hair Drug Test
This test is used to detect Fentanyl in a hair sample. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is sometimes prescribed to treat severe pain, such as in cancer patients. With the recent rise in opioid abuse, there has been particular concern over the misuse of Fentanyl. Fentanyl is produced and sold illegally due to the euphoric high it creates which is similar to Heroin. However, Fentanyl is significantly more potent than Heroin and carries a high risk of overdose. Fentanyl is sometimes combined with other drugs such as Heroin or Cocaine which can increase the health risk due to a person not knowing what or how much they are actually taking. Most standard drug testing panels do not include testing for Fentanyl so a test that looks for Fentanyl specifically is required. Hair Follicle testing has a detection period of about 90 days.
The Fentanyl Hair Follicle test includes testing for Fentanyl and its metabolite Norfentanyl. Hair drug testing may not detect recent use as it can take from several days up to a week for substances to enter the hair follicle. To detect recent use, a Fentanyl Urine Test may be more effective.
Turnaround for this test is typically 7-10 business days.

Hair must be at least 1.5-2 inches in length. Hair will be collected at the scalp. The lab will be required to take a sample of at least 90-120 strands.
Please note that not all lab locations are able to perform the collections for hair drug testing. When placing a testing order online you will only be able to select from lab locations which are able to perform this type of testing.
This test is intended to screen for drugs of abuse and is not appropriate for pain management or therapeutic monitoring. Customers who require pain management testing should consult their prescribing physician.
