Lipid and Glucose Test (Labcorp)
This package includes two common tests which can help screen for conditions such as Diabetes and Heart Disease. The Lipid Panel Cholesterol Test includes measurements for Total Cholesterol, LDL (bad cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol), Triglycerides and VLDL. The Glucose Test provides a measurement for a person's fasting blood sugar level.
Elevated glucose can indicate that a person has an increased risk for Diabetes. Diabetes can contribute to lower HDL and higher LDL and Total Cholesterol which can increase a person's risk of stroke or heart attack.
These tests are often ordered as part of routine general health screening. They can also be done when a person is taking medication to help control cholesterol or blood sugar.
