Description:
Phosphatidylserine Antibodies Blood Test IgA, IgM, IgG Blood Test (Labcorp)
This test measures the levels of 3 types of Phosphatidylserine antibodies in the blood. Test results will provide measurements for IgA, IgM, and IgG antibodies. Testing for Phosphatidylserine antibodies is most commonly used to aid in diagnosing Antiphospholipid Syndrome. This is an autoimmune condition that can cause the development of irregular blood clots in the arteries and veins. These clots can lead to events like a heart attack or stroke. Pregnant women with Antiphospholipid Syndrome may experience a miscarriage or stillbirth.
Identifying antiphospholipid syndrome can be difficult because many people do not experience any symptoms. Some people will experience symptoms that are common to other conditions such as pain or swelling in the legs, rash, chronic headaches, bleeding from the nose or gums, and low platelet levels from a CBC test.
Typically, one positive test for Phosphatidylserine Antibodies is not enough to make a diagnosis for antiphospholipid syndrome. If someone tests positive for one or more antibody types, it is usually recommended to test again. Additional tests may also be necessary.
Turnaround for the online Phosphatidylserine Antibodies test is typically 2-5 business days.
