While blood testing alone cannot rule out or positively diagnose pancreatic cancer, there are several tests that can provide related information and help assess your risk level. Cancer of the pancreas can affect your liver function which may cause symptoms such as yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice). A liver function panel provides several measurements that can help with identifying the cause of these symptoms. CA 19-9 and Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) are tumor markers that are often elevated in people with pancreatic cancer. Abnormal results on these tests will require follow-up by your doctor.
