Pneumococcal Titers in Buffalo, New York

Same day, Affordable Pneumococcal Titers, Locations Nationwide

Do you or someone you know need to check pneumococcal immunity? Request A Test offers two types of Pneumococcal Titers in Buffalo, NY. This test measures IgG antibody levels to Streptococcus Pneumoniae to determine how well a person has responded to vaccination. Streptococcus Pneumoniae (pneumococcal) is a bacteria that is responsible for the majority of cases of pneumonia as well as other conditions including bronchitis, septicemia and meningitis. Pneumonia is most dangerous for young children, people over the age of 65 or those with other conditions that are already weakening their immune system. Several types of pneumococcal vaccines are available. The 2 most common vaccines are Prevnanr13 (PCV13) and Pneumovax23 (PPSV23). PCV13 provides protection from 13 pneumococcus serotypes while PPSV23 provides protection from 23 serotypes. Depending on a person's age and other risk factors, they may be recommended to take one or both vaccines. After being vaccinated, a blood test can help to verify that a person has developed sufficient levels of IgG antibodies to protect them from infection. IgG antibodies for both of these vaccines typically take 3-4 weeks after vaccination to fully develop.

The Pneumococcal Titers (13 Serotypes) looks at antibodies to the same 13 serotypes which are included in the PCV13 vaccine. The common numerical classification for these serotypes are 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F.

The Pneumococcal Titers (23 Serotypes) looks at antibodies to the same 23 serotypes which are included in the PPSV23 vaccine. These common numerical classification for these serotypes are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 8, 9N, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 17F, 18C, 19A, 19F, 20, 22F, 23F, and 33F.
