These levels are usually highest in growing children or when a broken bone is healing.  High levels of ALP may indicate that tumors are producing abnormal bone tissues.  Measuring ALP can also help to monitor how a person's bone cancer is progressing and how well they are responding to treatment.  A complete blood count (CBC) is a common screening tool for many health issues, including various types of cancer.    Changes in the blood cell count on a CBC may be indicative of cancer.
