Description:
Estradiol Sensitive Blood Test (Labcorp)
This test provides a sensitive measurement for Estradiol in the blood. Estradiol is one of the primary components of Estrogen, the main female sex hormone. This test has increased sensitivity over the normal Estradiol blood test. The increased sensitivity can be useful for situations where a person may have lower estradiol levels. The Sensitive Estradiol test is typically used for testing on children, adolescents, post-menopausal women, and men. In women of reproductive age, estradiol levels are typically high enough that a sensitive test is not necessary.
This test may be used for children experiencing symptoms of early or delayed puberty. For post-menopausal women who are undergoing hormone therapy, this test is typically more accurate than a regular estradiol test. Estradiol testing may be recommended for men with fertility issues or symptoms of a hormone imbalance. For men, the results of a regular estradiol test may be interfered with by the presence of other hormones and steroids.
Results for this test should not be used interchangeably with those of a normal estradiol blood test.
The turnaround for the Estradiol, Sensitive test is typically 3-6 business days.
