Methadone Urine Drug Test (Labcorp)
This test is used to detect methadone in a urine sample. Methadone is an opioid drug that is sometimes prescribed to treat chronic pain. It is also given to people who are being treated for opioid addiction to help lessen the severity of withdrawal symptoms. Methadone should not be taken without a doctor's guidance. It can be habit-forming and has the potential to cause side effects and serious health complications. Short-term side effects can include nausea, slowed breathing, headache, constipation, sexual dysfunction, mood changes, vision problems, and difficulty sleeping. More serious side effects are possible including difficulty breathing, swelling in the lips, tongue, or throat, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, hallucinations, lightheadedness, fainting, or seizures. An overdose of methadone can be fatal.
Methadone is typically detectable in urine for 2-3 days after use but can be detectable for as long as 14 days depending on a number of factors including a person's metabolism and how much they have taken. This test includes an initial screen with a confirmation test performed automatically if anything is detected. Positive results will provide a numerical value for the level detected.
