MMR Titer Test (Labcorp)
What is an MMR Immunity Test?
The MMR Titer test measures IgG antibodies to Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, and Rubella. Measuring antibody levels can help to determine if a person has immunity to infectious diseases. Most people in the United States receive MMR vaccinations when they are infants or before beginning school. In many people, vaccination provides lifelong immunity. However, studies have shown that in some cases, protection may wane for one or more components of the MMR as a person gets older. In these cases, a booster may be necessary to increase antibody levels.
The MMR Immunity test provides differentiated quantitative numerical results for measles, mumps, and rubella. Test results also provide a reference range to help determine if a person is immune or not for each component
How often should MMR Titers be checked?
For most people, an MMR vaccine provides lifelong immunity. In rare cases, immunity may wane later in like requiring another vaccination. An MMR titer is usually ordered for people who need proof of their immune status to meet their work, school, or travel requirements. Request A Test also offers an Immunity Panel that combines testing for MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B. For additional Immunity Tests, see our Titer Testing Category.
How long does an MMR Titer test take?
Turnaround time for the MMR titer test is typically 1-3 business days.
