Description:
Thyrotropin Receptor Antibody Test
The Thyrotropin Receptor Antibody (TRAb) Test is used to aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune disorders that affect the Thyroid. Thyrotropin Receptor Antibodies are the cause of Hyperthyroidism in people with conditions such as Graves' Disease, and will be present in approximately 90% of people with this condition. These antibodies stimulate the thyroid gland to overproduce thyroid hormones. This test can be useful in helping to diagnose people with Graves' disease or helping to differentiate between disorders when a person's symptoms are difficult to interpret.
The TRAb test may be ordered when someone is suspected of suffering from Hyperthyroidism. This test is often ordered with a Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) Test to help a person's doctor in making a diagnosis.
Turnaround for this test is typically 2-4 business days.
