Description:
CD4:CD8 Ratio Profile Blood Test (Labcorp)
The CD4:CD8 Ratio Profile test is typically used to monitor disease progression in people who have been diagnosed with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). HIV attacks the immune system making people more susceptible to infections and other viruses. In time, HIV may lead to the development of AIDS. Normally, this test will be ordered regularly to help monitor how much damage the virus is doing to the immune system or to see how well a person is responding to treatment.
CD4 cells are white blood cells called lymphocytes which are targeted by the HIV virus. The CD4:CD8 Ratio test measures these and other lymphocytes to gauge the status of a person’s immune system. This test includes:
- Percentage CD4+
- Absolute CD4+

- Absolute CD8+
- CD4:CD8 Ratio
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
It is always best to confer with a doctor to determine the best schedule for the ordering of this test.
Turnaround time for the CD4:CD8 Ratio Profile is typically 1-3 business days.
