How it Works

What are the most important General Health Blood Tests?

You're ready to start monitoring your health by ordering your own lab testing.  The question is, what tests are the most important?  Picking the right general health blood tests may seem like a daunting task.  There are hundreds of tests to pick from.  Fortunately, Request A Test has a place for you to start.  We've created several discounted packages that bundle common general health tests together.  The tests in these general health panels cover multiple areas to give an overall evaluation of your wellness.  We have basic, comprehensive, and ultimate panels depending on how many tests you'd like to do as well as how much you are comfortable spending.

Request A Test offers 3 basic wellness panels that include some of the most popular lab tests for general wellness.  You can choose the package that best suits your needs or move on to our more expansive Comprehensive Wellness Panel.

Basic Wellness Panel #1

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): A CBC blood test provides a variety of measurements including red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelet count.  This test can help identify issues like infection, cancer, and anemia.
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): A CMP blood test, sometimes referred to as a chemistry panel, provides 14 measurements related to a number of areas.  This test includes blood sugar (glucose), protein, electrolytes, calcium, BUN (blood urea nitrogen), creatinine, liver enzymes, and more.  The CMP is a great all-around test for checking the health of your heart, liver, kidney, and metabolic functions.
  • Lipid Panel: A lipid panel looks at your cholesterol levels.  Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels is important for lowering your risk of heart disease.
  • Complete Urinalysis:  A Urinalysis test looks for abnormalities in the urine.  This can help identify issues with the kidneys, liver, urinary tract, and prostate.

Basic Wellness Panel #2

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
  • Lipid Panel
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): A TSH blood test measures a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that stimulates the thyroid gland to produce other hormones such as T4 and T3.  These hormones play an important role in the body's metabolic processes.

Basic Wellness Panel #3

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
  • Lipid Panel
  • Hemoglobin A1C: An A1C blood test measures blood glucose levels over the past several months to help determine if a person is at risk for diabetes.  This test can also help monitor how well a person with diabetes is managing their condition.

The Comprehensive Wellness Panel provides a larger selection of tests to give a more thorough health check-up.

Comprehensive Wellness Panel

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)

  • Thyroid Panel:  The basic thyroid panel includes several measurements for thyroid function including TSH, T4, T3 Update, and Free Thyroxine Index.
  • Sedimentation Rate (ESR): A Sed Rate or ESR blood test measures inflammation in the body.  This can help identify infections, injuries, or conditions like arthritis.
  • Vitamin D:  Vitamin D Blood testing measures an important nutrient that many people are deficient in.  Vitamin D contributes to a healthy immune system, strong bones, heart health, and metabolism.

If you want a thorough comprehensive wellness testing panel, our Ultimate Wellness Panel is a great choice.
