Requirements:
Sedimentation rate testing is time-sensitive and specimens must be received and processed by the lab within 24 hours of collection.
To avoid delays please observe the following:
- Specimens should be collected as late in the day as possible.
- Specimens should not be collected on a Friday or the day before a holiday.
- Avoid selecting 3rd party draw sites as these may require longer transportation time for specimens.
This panel requires fasting for 9 - 12 hours prior to going in for blood collection.
Oral contraceptives, IUDs, pregnancy, and menstruation may raise hs-CRP levels. Levels are lowest during ovulation.
The Lipid Panel blood test requires fasting for 9 - 12 hours prior to going in for blood collection.
Urine specimen should be a midstream collection to minimize contamination. See lab personnel for additional collection instructions.
It is recommended that someone taking Biotin (also known as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H, or coenzyme R) stop consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample.
