Description:
Spring Seasonal Allergy (Tree Pollen) Panel
This allergy panel tests for a variety of tree pollen allergies that are common during the spring season. The blossoming of various trees during the spring releases pollen into the air that can trigger allergy symptoms for a lot of people. Since most allergies display similar symptoms it can be difficult to determine what you are allergic to. Blood testing can help you test your reaction to common trees and see how severe a reaction you have.
This allergy panel includes:
- Alder, Grey
- Beech
- Birch, Silver
- Cedar, Mountain
- Cottonwood
- Elm
- Hickory
- Maple, Box Elder
- Oak, White
- Sycamore, Walnut
- Willow
Allergies are caused by a reaction in the body's immune system. The body identifies certain substances, such as pollen, as harmful and produces IgE antibodies against them. These antibodies trigger the release of histamine which causes the symptoms of an allergic reaction. Common allergy symptoms include runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, itchy eyes or nose, wheezing, and difficulty breathing. The severity of the allergy will vary from one person to the next. Blood allergy testing provides numerical results for IgE antibody levels to help determine how severe a reaction a person will have. Positive allergy test results should be discussed with a person's doctor to determine the appropriate follow up.
This test is typically ordered when people develop allergy symptoms around the start of the spring season. Seasonal allergy panels for Fall and Summer are also available. For more testing options, please see our Allergy Testing Category.
