Specimen Type: Blood
Tissue Transglutaminase, IgA and IgG Blood Test Online

Description:

Tissue Transglutaminase, IgA & IgG Blood (Labcorp)

This Celiac Disease package includes both the Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA and IgG tests.  These tests look for two types of antibodies which commonly develop in people with Celiac.  TTG antibody testing is one of the most commonly ordered Celiac blood tests and is often ordered as part of an initial screening for Celiac Disease.

Ordering both tTG antibody tests together can provide a more comprehensive screening than a single test can.  Some people have a condition which results in a deficiency of IgA antibodies.  In these cases, the addition of an IgG test can provide a higher level of accuracy.  Because tTG antibody levels usually drop after treatment, this test can also be used to determine if treatment for Celiac Disease was successful.

Celiac Disease Testing is advisable for anyone who is experiencing symptoms or knows of a family member who has been diagnosed with Celiac.  A final diagnosis of Celiac Disease should be confirmed by a doctor and may require additional testing or an intestinal biopsy.  For more information about Celiac testing, please visit the Celiac Disease Foundation at www.celiac.org.

Turnaround time for the Tissue Transglutaminase IgA and IgG package is typically 1-3 business days.

Where can I find a Tissue Transglutaminase, IgA and IgG test near me?

Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

This celiac disease TTG testing has no fasting requirements. Please note it is recommended that prior to taking TTG testing, a regular diet including items that contain gluten should be followed for 2 weeks as a gluten-free diet may not provide an accurate representation of potential gluten sensitivity.
