Description:
Olanzapine (Zyprexa) Blood Drug Test
This test measures Olanzapine, also known by the brand name Zyprexa, in the blood. Zyprexa is a prescription antipsychotic medication that is commonly used to treat mental conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. Olanzapine abuse is not common but it is sometimes taken improperly by people self-medicating for anxiety or insomnia as well as to enhance the effects of other drugs such as opiates or methadone. Zyprexa can cause a number of side effects including blurred vision, swelling in the extremities, uncontrolled movements, feet, irregular heartbeat, rash, hives, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. An overdose can cause rapid heartbeat, loss of muscular control, seizures, and coma.
Olanzapine had a short detection period in blood. In most cases, it is detectable for 12-48 hours after use. The detection time can vary depending on a number of factors including how much a person has taken. Positive results for this test will provide a numerical value for the level detected. For more testing options, please see our Drug Testing Category.
Turnaround for this test is typically 5-10 business days.
At this time, Request A Test does not offer DOT (Department of Transportation) certified testing.
